Punjab Announces ₹1,200-Crore Rural Road and Drainage Programme
Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 18 — The Punjab government has approved a two-year programme to rebuild village link roads and storm drainage across roughly 400 villages, with the first tranche of tenders due to open in September.
Officials said priority will go to habitations that have gone longest without maintenance. Ward-level committees will sign off on completion before contractors are paid, a change introduced after complaints about unfinished work in earlier schemes.
District administrations have been asked to submit village lists within three weeks.
